11:53AM - hiatus

Orange Cat 5 is on a hiatus. Erik has run away to California and his return is questionable. But the girls are still in contact with him. In the meantime, not much happens in the way of adventures. Lots of Buffy is watched, which is really mighty fine!

10:20PM - this time on OC5

The trio watch a couple episodes of a new fun show, 'The Middleman'.
It's freakin' hilarious! It has terrific pop culture references, a likeable cast, interesting characters, and a great deal of silliness which is always appreciated.
It's been a while since a currently broadcassted show has been watched by OC5 (though it is being watched later, via videotape).
It's summertime and Erik is working less and hanging out at the lake and other places outside more often. Jules and Ro still work the usual hours, but spend time in the garden and building a deck. Exciting to them, but not exactly a riveting storyline.
The trio is still alive and kickin', even if new episodes are few and far between.

That's a wrap!

8:21PM - new ratchet and clank

Erik got Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters. Jules saw it used at Hastings. He played it for a couple hours while Jules watched. Ro was out of town and will have to catch up on the fun later.
Springtime has finally come to the OrangeCat5 folks. Finally.
Stay tuned for more antics.
Oh and 'Little Britain' has been added to our interests. :-)

6:42PM - this week on OC5

Tonight the gang plays We Love Katamari, watches Eddie Izzard with a friend (guest star Amanda) and waits for the lunar eclipse. They all want to see it, despite the fact that it's like 15 degrees outside.
The week has been fairly uneventful, though a new disc of Frasier has arrived (season 9).

9:42PM - this week on Orange Cat 5

Erik reads from the book 'What's Your Poo Telling You?' about, well, poo and what your innards are up to before it all comes out.
Erik reads adverts in the TVGuide (or maybe it was USA Weekend) about the decorative Lord of the Rings figurines one can order. Both elicit great peals of laughter.
Ro plays Lara Croft: Tomb Raider Anniversary and gets frustated with jumpng around, but gets better at killing things.
Jules contemplates colors for painting hte bathroom and maybe the kitchen cabinets.
There is much laughter.

1:46PM - semi-return of OC5

So there hasn't really been much of a return of OC5. Erik has been in NY (state) for the last couple of weeks. The profile hs been updated to include 'Firefly', 'Serenity' and 'Frasier'.
Silliness does still abound when we're together. I just need to write more stuff down, or just make stuff up ::G::
But we're still here, alive and kicking and may have 'guest stars' at some point, particularly Cricket, Jennifer and possibly LJ friends.

9:11PM - corner gas

There will be more festivities surrounding a new round of tv viewing. I just got the 3rd season of 'Corner Gas' on dvd.

A bit of an Orange Cat 5 update from my LJ early last month:
May 6th-- The comic convention was pretty fun. There were more folks dressed up this year than other times I've been there. Mostly Star Wars and I think it was probably mostly people from the 501st Legion (mostly stormtroopers, but some others). I saw Dave Prowse--Darth Vader's body for the first 3 SW movies, for the geeks who don't know that :-) I didn't talk to him, but nodded hello. Saw Richard Hatch (original Apollo, though I was never really a fan), and Big Face Guy (Robert D'Zar, whom I mostly know from the MST movie 'Soultaker') and Noel N (something) from the 50's Superman (Lois Lane). She was cute in her Superman t-shirt with a yellow blazer.
I got R a Mothra that makes noise (and is bigger than the Godzilla that we have) and a Hogwarts patch for one of us to use. I'll be on the lookout for another one. I got Erik an ID card thingie for the Blue Sun (Firefly) and I was able to trade a set of Lexx cards (plus some extras) for a set of Voyager cards (the series set) and $10--which is what I paid for the whole box of the Lexx cards, so that's pretty cool!
I saw an Amelia Rules t-shirt, but it was HUGE. I also found the 'AR' that Terry Moore did the cover for, but didn't get it. Maybe some other time.
I still haven't found the TATTOO issue (TPB?) of Strangers in Paradise.
All in all, Erik and I had a good time! He got some X-Men comics.
Saw a couple dressed as Battlestar Galactica, umm something. Pilots, maybe. Don't watch, so I dunno, but I've seen Starbuck dressed this way. Erik made a comment, either about them or some other geek couple we saw, "you know they met at one of these things." Heh.
not a lot goin' on, but OC5 still lives!

3:00PM - Orange Cat 5 returns!

There will be new postings of Orange Cat 5 and hopefully I can get a few more people over here to look. Or maybe I'll just write it for myself to laugh at later.

Things to remember:

Erik: You're driving through the drive through the wrong way
Jules: Well, I don't think Sheridan's is doing a lot of business right now
(Sheridan's is a frozen custard place and the temp at the time was about 15)

Orange Cat 5, take 2.

Walking into CiCi's pizza and seeing Jabba the Hutt and his 'little brother' and speaking Huttenese. A the bagel shop Erik tells us that everyone has been assigned (or picked) Star Wars characters...he's C-3PO and not terribly amused :-)

1:05PM - weekend

We're coming up on a holiday weekend. Well, the holiday isn't during the weekend, but since 4th of July falls on a Tuesday and many people are likely to take Monday off (Jules and Ro don't HAVE to work, but will be a little bit). Erik has to work both days, probably, but Tuesday will just be in the morning.
It's the time for cookin' out and BBQ ribs! Ro makes fabulous ribs (not smoked or on the grill, but oven cooked, with a terrific rub and sauce). This weekend OC5 will make up a menu and do some shopping. MMmmmmm-MMMMM!

Fade in on watching the threesome watching tv, flipping around, as usual and commenting here and there.
Shot of tv showing some version of the Power Rangers, one character leaping grandly through the air.
Erik and Jules, in synch: Weeeeee!
Ro: Wow, that was perfectly together.
Erik: That's what we do.

More later, probably with the complete menu.

The former community 'Happy Life' is now 'Orange Cat 5' and is described below.

"This community used to be one thing. Now it's something different. This is the home of Orange Cat 5, a fictional tv sitcom (not that all sitcoms aren't fictional, but this isn't really a tv show). Some of the things written here maybe true scenerios, real convesations or "this is what happened reality". Or it may be completely made up, a script of sorts or an idea of something fun we'd like to do.
Orange Cat 5 stars Erik, a gay man and Ro and Jules a lesbian couple, 3 great friends who hang out a lot, not really doing much of anything, but watching videos/dvds, snacking and making fun of things in a non-malicious way. 'Mystery Science Theater 3000' is a big factor in a lot of the making fun.
Enjoy! "

Please join in the fun!

9:28AM - April 5th

Today Kansans vote on whether or not to amend the constitution to be discriminatory towards gay folks in regards to marriage.
I'm taking off work tomorrow 'cuz I plan to be depressed at the outcome. There's one, teeny, tiny part of me that has a glimmer of hope, for the dozen or so non-gay people who realize that this whole thing is a load of crap.

5:39PM - ...and all I got was...

Here are the shirts we made ("we" being my other half)
The idea came about as we were thinking of the follwong facts:
We have no economic power, just enough to pay our bills and buy some stuff once in a while.
We own no property, the most valuable thing being my car, which is technically owned by the bank, since I'm still paying it off.
We have no political sway, even locally. We're fairly anonymous.
Yet some right-wing folks seem to think we're positioned to take over the world. So we were thinking, 'man, if we have all this power, we want some compensation! If our relationship is soooo threatening, maybe we should try to get something out of it!"
Obviously that's not gonna happen, so we have these shirts...that's all we've got to show for all of out "threats."

6:02PM - Welcome!

Hey! It's my new community. I know there are lots of other journals and websites out there for queer folks, but my sweetie and I want to have a place to rant and rave and post pix.
I'll be sending out a couple of invites, but browse, drop me a note if you wanna join.
